A seamless blend of 42% Grenache, 27% Syrah, 21% Mourvedre and 10% Petit Sirah exudes dark fruit elements ranging from wild blueberry to caramelized plum. Fine-grained tannin cascade over the palate staging dimensions of baked boysenberry, cranberry compote, cherry cola and roasted fennel seed. Underscored by a juicy acidity, the finish is seasoned with nuances of ground nutmeg, white peppercorn, candied vanilla and a skosh of blood orange zest.
Picked throughout September and October, the grapes were fermented into 5-ton open top fermenters and pumped over multiple times per day to achieve maximum extraction. Aged for 22 months in French oak and American oak.During the last 12 months of barrel aging, the blending components were aged together in oak. During the first 10 months they were aged separately by variety.
