2014 Paderewski Zinfandel

Ignacy Jan Paderewski (1860–1941), was a virtuoso pianist, composer, and politician, he was the first Prime Minister of independent Poland after World War I.  He also owned land in Paso Robles, and planted some of the very first Zinfandel vines in California!

Juicy bramble berry, plum preserves, stewed strewberry and fennel seed entice the nose.  The palate is full and rips, reminiscent of warm rhubarb pie and allspice.  A tight core of tannin and vibrant acidity are framed by flavors of star anise, vanilla bean, sweet blueberry and raspberry compote.  The finish is lengthy, layered and lingering.  Drink now until 2020.

Vineyard Notes
The Cass Estate Vineyard, located southeast of the town of Paso Robles, exemplifies the quality of the Paso Robles region with its warm days, cool coastal breezes, and exceptional soils. Resting at 900 feet of elevation, the 160-acre vineyard is planted to 11 varieties on a large terrace above the Huer Huero River. Deposited over centuries, the diverse alluvial soils make for an expressive site that produces fruit of incredible quality.
